You all know I attend weight watchers meetings. I don't really like to talk about my association with weight watchers but my leader told a story today at my meeting that was so sad. Yet it has a powerful principle behind it so I want to share it.
There was a woman man years ago who had lost 140 lbs. with weight watchers. While she was on vacation she gained 40 lbs. You might be saying: "How is that humanly possible?"...well it is because she made a lot of bad choices while on her vacation. The first thing that my leader said to her was that she had to forgive herself for making those choices or else the rest of her weight loss would be impossible. And she was right. The tragic part of the story is that woman never forgave herself. She allowed the guilt she felt for making so many bad decisions on vacation make her choices for the rest of her life. As a result she gained all of her 140 lbs. back.
The moral of the story is to forgive yourself if you've made some bad choices today, the last couple weeks, months...or even years. (also just complaining about what you ate and not taking responsibility for it doesn't help weight loss either. but that's another topic.) I found this advice on the hungry girl website and thought it summed it up well:
If you slip up and miss a day of exercise or accidentally inhale an entire week's worth of chocolate in one sitting, don't beat yourself up about it. It's one thing to acknowledge where you went wrong so you don't repeat your mistakes, but it's another thing altogether if you throw yourself a pity party that lasts until Labor Day. Don't give up, letting one bad day turn into a bad week or month. ACK! Be patient with yourself while you figure out what works. Live and learn!
Breakfast is so hard for me because my brain functions much slower in the first moments of the morning and thus it is hard for me to make good decisions. To combat this I decide what I am going to have for breakfast for a whole week. Buy enough ingredients for the week and have the same breakfast for the whole week.
I love these egg mug recipes from hungry girl, and you know how much I love California. Try this super- easy- vegged- out breakfast and you will be in love too!
